About our Workshops

Small Class Size

wildflower workshopOur workshops are designed around small class sizes. We limit each workshop to 12 students, and our multi-day workshops have at least two instructors. This low student to instructor ratio ensures that you get plenty of one on one time with an instructor during your class. The small class size also allows us to be able to teach to a wide range of abilities. Whether you are a seasoned pro, or new to photography, rest assured you will leave every workshop with new skills and abilities.

Opportunities

Delicate Arch Photography WokshopWe believe the best reason to attend a photography workshop is to gain new skills and experience However, we realize that many of our participants just want to come back with exciting images from a new place. We do are best (weather permitting) to bring you to locations off the beaten path to insure you leave with the best possible images.

The Group

Photography WorkshopWe include group meals, either in the field or at local restaurants, in all of our multi-day workshops. Group meals are not only convenient, but they also work as a great informal setting for discussion, a chance to sample local food, and the opportunity for everyone to make new friends with a similar interest.

Most of our multi-day trips include a lodging option. Staying in the same hotel makes our early morning starts a lot easier to organize. You will save money on lodging when choosing the lodging package because we can negotiate group rates at our hotels. We will pair you with a member of the same gender, although you do have the option to purchase a single supplement and stay in your own room. We choose hotels that maximize comfort and amenities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. However, if you prefer, we would be happy to provide you with local budget hotels and nearby camping options.

Activity Levels

Photography WorkshopSmall class sizes allow us to customize the level of activity on our trips. Our instructors will have several back-up plans ready to go based on weather and group ability before your workshop ever starts. Most of our field sessions are done near parking areas and do not involve strenuous activity; however, a few of the workshops may require walking distances of up to 2 miles on uneven terrain. If you have any concerns, please include them on your workshop application so they can be addressed prior to the start of the workshop.

About the Instructor

Timothy Faust HeadshotTimothy Faust's images have been featured in numerous publications such as National Geographic Adventure, Outside Magazine, Trail Runner, and Freeskier. His prints can be seen at Altitude Fine Art Photography Gallery in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Timothy has been photographing professionally for ten years, and his work has taken him all over the United States, and even to exotic location such as Tibet and Nepal. His favorite places to photograph are Yosemite National Park, the Himalayas, the desert canyons surrounding Moab, Utah, and around his home in the Mountains of Breckenridge, Colorado.

Before becoming a professional photographer, Timothy taught high school chemistry and physics for several years. He feels that his experience as a school teacher has helped to prepare him for the rigors of teaching photography workshops across the country. His approach is very hands on, and prefers to instruct people on location. He instructs with a "learn while doing" style that helps to reinforce what students are learning.
